In this event, each of these influential citizens will discuss their approach to leadership and their personal leadership philosophies. They will share inspiring stories from their careers and key leadership insights to apply in the workplace and in every area of life.

Bonnie Dumanis is one of San Diego's most innovative and respected law enforcement leaders. She has spent her entire career in public service, and her unique blend of experience as a Clerk Typist, Superior Court Judge, and three-term District Attorney has provided her with the skills to successfully reorganize and run one of the largest criminal justice operations in California. Throughout her career, Dumanis has been recognized as a skilled team builder and organizational strategist.

Bill Gore serves as the 29th Sheriff of San
Diego County. He oversees one of the largest Sheriff'
s Departments in the nation, with 4,000 employees and an annual budget of $600 million. Sheriff Gore is known for his regional approach to law enforcement and for his energetic use of technology on the front lines of law enforcement.

Shelley Zimmerman was promoted to Chief of Police in the spring of 2014 and is a 31-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department. Chief Zimmerman has worked many of the San Diego Police Department's patrol commands and possesses extensive investigative experience.  Her prior assignments include Vice, Narcotics, Internal Affairs,
Multi-Cultural Community Relations Office, the Mayor's Executive Protection Detail, the Narcotics Task Force, and the Field Lieutenant position.

This SDEA Strategic Leadership Series event will be moderated by Jerry Sanders, former Mayor of San Diego and a lifelong public servant of the city. Sanders began his career as a police officer at age 22 and eventually became one of the youngest police chiefs in city history. After retiring from his position as Chief of Police, Sanders worked as the CEO of the United Way of San Diego and chaired the board of the American Red Cross’s local chapter before being elected Mayor in 2005. Currently, Sanders holds the position of President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Join us for this informative discussion that will provide an inside look at the leadership philosophies and approaches that have made some of San Diego’s most influential leaders so successful and accomplished.
