Event Description:
The majority of people who fail in a job do so because they can’t work well with other people – not because of a lack of technical ability.  In this workshop, attendees dip into the difficult conversations.

Participants work directly with their own examples of when someone missed a deadline or did something else in the workplace that was irritating, caused problems, or didn’t get them what they needed.
Before trying out an actual conversation, they learn about different communication and work styles and how to communicate most effectively with people of other styles, and they learn guidelines that help move them through a tough conversation, such as:
  • Understanding what we tell ourselves about other people’s actions
  • Being curious rather than jumping to conclusions
  • Understanding how we might have contributed to the problem
  • Learning what to say and not to say in difficult conversations
  • Sticking to the facts and staying focused on results

This eye-opening course lowers stress and tension in the workplace as it helps people see where they may have fallen short in past difficult conversations.  It allows them to move forward with respect and understanding to have more successful conversations and better outcomes.
