Event Description:
Wage and Hour Round-Up - Rules You May Be Forgetting

We all know about overtime, minimum wage, rest breaks, exemptions…but you may need a quick refresher on some of the other rules.

Employment law attorney Chris Olmsted will answer wage and hour questions that he has encountered repeatedly recently at various presentations he has given. It seems there are several commonly confusing topics. Let’s make sure everyone is on the same page!

Topics include:
- When and why do I owe pay when workers aren’t working? (Including “on call” time,” “reporting time pay,” and others you haven’t thought of)
- Alternative workweek schedules, make up time, and comp time
- Wage statement errors that get you sued
- What is a “split shift premium”?
- When do I owe pay for travel time?
- Other wage and hour brain teasers

The presentation will focus on practical tips for compliance. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

HRCI units offered.
